REBEL BY PULL-ON WESTERN BOOT

A distressed-looking upper in brown full-grain leather, with fancy stitching on the shaft and a toe bug stitch on the foot — the two details that make this read as a traditional western boot rather than a modern one.

Getting into it is handled by a dipped topline and pull tabs, which on a 12" pull-on boot is not a small thing. The footbed is cushioned and removable, so when it wears down you can drop another insole in rather than retire the boot. Four key components are engineered together to keep the design light: a two-layer innersole, a shank, a shock absorbing EVA midsole and a high abrasion rubber outsole, with a rolled shank area and a rocker heel. The outsole itself is a combination of rubber and EVA, a blend that gives durability, comfort and flexibility while keeping the weight down, and it is built to provide slip resistance and traction across various surfaces. The heel is a 1 3/8" rebel heel, low enough that your stride stays normal through the day.

That last point is worth dwelling on, because heel height is what makes most western boots tiring. A low heel and a rocker profile together mean the foot rolls through a step instead of stopping at it, and a boot you can genuinely walk in all day is a different object from one you can stand in for an hour.
