8" BLUEPRINT WORK BOOT

An 8" tall lace-up work boot in a golden brown leather that arrives slightly distressed, so it starts out looking lived in rather than waiting to be broken in. It is made in the USA with global parts, crafted by hand by the bootmakers at an El Paso, Texas factory.

The cushioning is the argument here. Encapsulated air cells virtually eliminate compression set, which is the reason a cushioned boot usually goes flat halfway through its life; here the energy return is meant to last as long as the boot does. Polyurethane gel pads sit in the heel, the arch and the ball of the foot, placed where muscle fatigue actually starts. The Dri-Lex cooling system pulls moisture out from the inside of the shoe so the insole stays dry and cool. Under all of it, a dual-density polyurethane outsole resists oil and slips and meets the ASTM F2892 safety footwear standards, and the boot is electrical hazard rated, tested up to 18,000 volts.

A lace-up earns its keep when the day involves ladders or a foot that needs holding rather than housing. The distressed finish means the first scuff is not an event. Wear it with a work jean over the top and let the brown deepen.
